My Rock, My Redeemer
sometimes i wonder why God is so good to me. so many times i take for granted the things that He's done for me. i look back over my life and i see ways he's delivered and protected me. i see how he's provided in abundance.
and i see these people who have nothing. i study about poverty in america. i've seen how people live overseas. so why me? and what do i do with that. i look at all the "stuff" in my house and think of all the ways that i waste. i think of Paul and how he said "I know what it is to be in want and I know what it is to have plenty." i can't say that i know what it is to be in want at least not as far as necessities go. i mean i've fasted so i've been "without" but not because i didn't have, it was my choice...i'm learning though that as God gives to me, that the most precious gift he ever gave is Jesus. obvious yet so fresh for me. i've heard all my life that Jesus is the greatest gift, Jesus is the reason for the season, it's all about Jesus. and while i've known this in my head...it's becoming more real to me than it ever has before. no matter what season i'm in, the only way to make the most of it is to cling to my savior and to know my God.
The law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
The precepts of the LORD are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the LORD is pure,
enduring forever.
The ordinances of the LORD are sure
and altogether righteous.
They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the comb.
By them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
Who can discern his errors?
Forgive my hidden faults.
Keep your servant also from willful sins;
may they not rule over me.
Then will I be blameless,
innocent of great transgression.
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
(Psalm 19:7-14)
